The refectory, or dining-room, was located above the basement and the dormitory was located on the second floor. In 1700, the dormitory floor was almost entirely removed to make room for a large church space. Today, the Bethaniënklooster consists of the basement with vaulted ceilings, two stories which have been joined together to create an auditorium, and a number of top floor apartments.

THE CONCERT HALL

Under the oak wood ceiling of the former dormitory, you will now find an auditorium which is unique in Amsterdam and which has extraordinary acoustics. Since 2000, the Bethaniënklooster has evolved immensely as a concert venue. Boasting 120 concerts a year, which attract 5000 to 10,000 visitors, the Bethaniënklooster has become an integral part of Amsterdam's cultural life.

THE BASEMENT

The basement is located under the auditorium. The 15th-century vaults are evidence of the building's old age. This crypt runs under the old refectory and it preserves the character of the former convent.
